Tokyo, December 24 (Xinhua) — A water leak containing radioactive tritium occurred Tuesday at the shut-down Fugen Nuclear Power Plant in Fukui Prefecture, central Japan. The incident raises the possibility that several workers may have been exposed to radiation, local media reported.
According to Hokuriku Broadcasting, tritium levels in one of the rooms increased during dismantling work. Decommissioning work is currently ongoing at the decommissioned nuclear facility.
The report said no environmental impacts were recorded. –0–
