Beijing, December 23 (Xinhua) — As of December 18, passenger traffic at the Xiwu International Airport in Ereenhot, north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, increased 3.9 percent year-on-year to 315,000 passengers since the beginning of 2025, exceeding the passenger traffic figure recorded in 2024 by 14 days, according to a statement posted on the official website of the Ereenhot city government.
The airport's annual passenger traffic is expected to reach 320,000 person-times in 2025, which is estimated to set another record since the airport's opening.
The Ereenhot–Ulaanbaatar regular air route, which officially opened in July 2025, has become an important channel for cross-border exchanges between China and Mongolia. As of December 18, passenger traffic on this route exceeded 24,000, providing a new source of passenger growth for Sayusu Airport.
The opening of the above-mentioned airline has helped to eliminate the weak link in the external openness of the city of Ereenhot in the field of multi-level transportation and to increase the role of the Saiyusu Airport in the construction of an important bridgehead for Inner Mongolia's opening up of the PRC in the northern direction, according to a statement from the mayor's office of the city of Ereenhot. -0-
