Baku, December 18 /Xinhua/ — The first batch of petroleum products produced by Azerbaijan's state oil company SOCAR was sent from Azerbaijan to Armenia on Thursday.
According to local media, the first shipment includes 1,220 tons of AI-95 motor gasoline. The cargo, distributed among 22 tank cars, will be delivered by Azerbaijan Railways to the Boyuk-Kyasik border station, after which it will transit to Armenia through Georgia.
Exports are carried out on a purely commercial basis. Gasoline will be sold at prices consistent with current international market quotations.
The delivery is being carried out within the framework of agreements reached on November 28 in the Azerbaijani city of Gabala at a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev and Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Mher Grigoryan.
The resumption of transportation in this direction became possible after Azerbaijan’s decision, made in October of this year, to lift restrictions on the transit of goods to Armenia. –0–
