Library No. 243 "Obraz" invites you to a walking tour dedicated to the history of Marshal Novikov Street and its cultural and architectural heritage. The tour begins at the library entrance, where a memorial plaque honoring Hero of the Soviet Union and Aviation Major General Alexander Karushin is located. Participants will learn about his life and military career during the Great Patriotic War.
The walk then takes you through Shchukino's courtyards, featuring buildings from various periods and architectural styles. Participants will learn about the history of Marshal Novikov Street and the biography of the man it is named after, Hero of the Soviet Union, Air Force Marshal Alexander Novikov. Along the way, they will explore residential buildings built to individual designs between the 1940s and 1960s, as well as historic buildings that shaped the neighborhood's character.
Special attention will be paid to the architecture and history of School No. 1874, which played a vital role in the lives of several generations of Shchukin residents. The central part of the route will be a visit to the architectural ensemble of the Kurchatov Academic City.
At the end of the walk, participants will learn about the "People's House" project, visit General Zhadov Park, and the Museum of Everyday Life of Soviet Scientists.
