Moscow has launched a new, effective model for personnel training. According to Anastasia RakovaAccording to Vladimir Aleksandrovich, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development, the city notes the strong interest of companies in working together to train specialists. The new "Professions of the Future" practical training center in Pechatniki is a response to the needs of the modern labor market. It trains specialists tailored to companies' needs, reducing the time it takes to fill vacancies and minimizing the onboarding period for new employees.
"The competitiveness of the city's economy today is determined by how quickly and efficiently we train our workforce. Employers require specialists ready to work in real-world production from day one, and they also require constant refresher training for their employees. The new "Professions of the Future" practical training center in Pechatniki has become a unified training space for the capital's leading companies. Its 35 modern workshops correspond to key sectors of the city's economy. These include the "Moscow Transport" workshop, a unique training platform for all types of public transportation, and the three-level "Elevator Industry" workshop, where we train specialists who ensure the comfort and safety of millions of Muscovites. At the "Professions of the Future" center, we train specialists tailored to the specific needs of their companies. For example, the Moscow Metro, Rosatom, the Moskvich plant, and other employers participated in the design of the training workshops and the development of the curriculum. "Therefore, we provide students with only those competencies that are currently in demand in the labor market," said Andrey Tarasov, head of the Moscow Employment Service and the Professions of the Future center.
The foundation of this large-scale practical training platform is constant collaboration with businesses: employers actively participate in program development, ensuring that specialist training at Pechatniki is precisely aligned with current market demands. Practitioners with 10 years of industry experience teach here, using equipment similar to real-world production. The center allows companies not only to quickly fill vacancies, saving resources on training and onboarding new employees, but also to regularly update the competencies of existing employees without interrupting their work.
Areas of training
The "Moscow Transport" workshop, created jointly with the Moscow Metro, has become a flagship training center in terms of scale and technological advancement. The center is the only training facility in Russia that trains personnel for all types of Moscow transport. This allows not only for training in specific professions but also for practicing coordinated work between services, including in non-standard situations.
One of the first employers was the construction company Krost, which is training specialists in building engineering systems at their request. The center trains highly skilled assemblers and fitters of electronic equipment and instruments for the Roscosmos state corporation, and milling machine operators and repair mechanics for the Moskvich automobile plant. Demand for these professions is consistently high: the employment service receives applications from 340 leading defense industry companies interested in the center's graduates.
"Elevator Industry" is the only three-level workshop in Russia with operational elevators, training electricians, installation technicians, and lift equipment adjusters for Moslift and the Capital Repairs Fund. Millions of Muscovites use elevators daily, a large number of new facilities are being commissioned, the industry is constantly growing, and the demand for qualified workers remains high.
The center places special emphasis on training personnel for the service industry. For future hospitality professionals, the Moskvich Grand Hotel has been created as a training facility, which fully simulates the space of a five-star hotel. In partnership with leading market players such as Soluxe Hotel Moscow and Cosmos Moscow Paveletskaya Hotel, it trains administrators and housekeepers. Students are immediately immersed in the realities of their professions, from guest relations to room preparation. Everything is designed to ensure graduates can quickly integrate into the working environment of any hotel.
Another shining example of collaboration with employers is the Zvezdy restaurant. They train not just individual specialists, but teams: a waiter will greet guests and take their orders, a chef will prepare the meal, and a barista will serve aromatic coffee. All students are trained according to the best industry standards. This will allow them to work in both large restaurant chains and small coffee shops.
Earlier, Anastasia Rakova reported a more than twofold increase in demand for rapid retraining programs for adult professionals over the past year.
Each year, the "Professions of the Future" practical training center in Pechatniki will graduate more than 15,000 specialists, ensuring businesses can quickly meet their talent needs and fostering sustainable growth in key sectors of the capital's economy.
The Moscow Employment Service is the largest state-run employment agency, assisting Moscow residents in their job search. At the "Professions of the Future" center on Shchepkina Street (Building 38, Building 1), you can master one of 75 in-demand professions in various economic sectors in up to three and a half months. Career mentors will help you find employment after completing the training. The center's partners include over three thousand employers.
In the fall of 2025, the "Professions of the Future" center opened its own practical training facility in Pechatniki. The educational process is structured as a full cycle—from training adults and college students to graduating qualified specialists and their subsequent support in the labor market. Adults will be able to master a sought-after profession or improve their qualifications and rank at the new center, while students will be able to complete internships sponsored by the educational institution.
