Dushanbe, December 16 (Xinhua) — Tajikistan's gross domestic product (GDP) reached 173 billion somoni (1 somoni is equal to approximately 0.11 U.S. dollars) in 2025, with a growth rate of 8.4 percent, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon said on Tuesday.
In his annual address to parliament, the head of state summarized the country's socioeconomic development for the current year and outlined priority tasks for the coming period.
According to him, over the past 10 years, Tajikistan has effectively implemented large-scale initiatives aimed at achieving strategic goals and improving the population's standard of living. As a result, GDP has increased 3.4-fold, and the average annual economic growth rate has reached 7.6 percent.
The President noted that over a ten-year period, over 670 billion somoni, including 159 billion somoni in foreign investment, has been allocated to support the country's socioeconomic development from all sources. During this time, the country's population has grown from 8.5 million in 2015 to 10.7 million in 2025, and average life expectancy has increased from 70 to 77 years.
E. Rahmon pointed out the need to take further measures to ensure economic growth of at least 8 percent in 2026, as well as maintaining macroeconomic stability in subsequent years. –0–
