BEIJING, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) — Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday met with Li Jiachao, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), who arrived in Beijing to present a progress report.
During the meeting, Xi Jinping heard a report from Li Jiachao on the current situation in Hong Kong and the work of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) administration.
The Chinese President said the central government fully approves of the work of Li Jiachao and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) administration.
As Xi Jinping emphasized, the 4th Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee emphasized the need for steadfast and consistent implementation of the policies of “one country, two systems,” “Hong Kong governed by the people of Hong Kong,” and a high degree of autonomy in order to promote long-term prosperity and stability in the metropolis.
The Chinese leader called on the HKSAR administration to actively coordinate its work with the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030), uphold and improve administrative leadership, promote high-quality economic development, and actively participate in the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, so that Hong Kong can be more deeply integrated into and contribute to the overall development of the country.
Li Qiang, Cai Qi, Ding Xuexiang, Li Ganjie, Chen Wenqing and Xia Baolong were present at the meeting. –0–
