Beijing, December 15 (Xinhua) — Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the strategic and fundamental importance of ideological and moral education for minors. He also called for joint efforts to create a favorable social environment for the healthy growth of minors.
Xi Jinping, who is also the general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the relevant statements while giving important instructions on the matter recently.
The Chinese leader called for improving the mechanism of joint education involving schools, families, and society to guide minors in developing high ideals, putting fundamental socialist values into practice, and developing positive moral qualities and behavioral habits.
As the Chinese President noted, it is necessary to cultivate a new generation of comprehensively developed young people with a solid moral foundation, developed intellectual abilities, robust health, aesthetic taste, and work skills, so that they can adequately take up the baton of socialist construction.
Xi Jinping's instructions were conveyed to participants at a working meeting on ideological and moral education of minors, which took place in Beijing on Monday.
Cai Qi, member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee and member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
Cai Qi emphasized the importance of strengthening family education, providing children with high-quality cultural products and services, and raising the level of internet literacy among minors.
He also called for accelerating the creation of a system of mental health services for minors, strengthening the protection of minors and preventing juvenile delinquency.
