Gaza, December 14 (Xinhua) — The head of the Palestinian Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip, Khalil al-Hayya, confirmed on Sunday the death of senior commander Raed Saad in an Israeli strike, local media reported.
On the occasion of the 38th anniversary of the founding of Hamas, H. al-Haya stated in a televised address that “R. Saad died along with his brothers.”
He added that “this leader dedicated his life to his religion and homeland and hid from occupation for decades.”
Five Palestinians were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a car west of Gaza City on Saturday, Palestinian medical sources said.
Earlier on Sunday, the Israel Defense Forces and the Shin Bet security service said that the head of Hamas's military wing's weapons production headquarters, R. Saad, had been killed. –0–
