Phnom Penh, December 11 (Xinhua) — At least 10 Cambodian civilians have been killed and another 60 injured in the current escalation of the border conflict with Thailand, Cambodian Deputy Secretary of State and Defense Ministry Spokesperson Lieutenant General Mali Socheata announced at a briefing on Thursday.

“The casualties include 10 civilian deaths, including one infant, and 60 wounded civilians,” she said.

The conflict on the Cambodia-Thailand border resumed around midday on Sunday. As of Thursday morning, it was still ongoing, said M. Socheata, adding that Thai artillery shelled numerous populated areas in Cambodia.

Cambodia's Interior Ministry said in a press release Wednesday night that more than 56,000 families, totaling 190,000 people, had fled their homes in search of safe shelters.
