Moscow, December 9 (Xinhua) – Russian Ambassador to North Korea Alexander Matsegora died last Saturday, RIA Novosti reported, citing the Russian Foreign Ministry.
"The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announces with deep sorrow that Alexander Matsegora, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, passed away on December 6, 2025, at the age of 71," reads a statement posted on the diplomatic agency's website.
"The bright memory of this outstanding Russian diplomat and patriot, who made a significant contribution to the establishment and deepening of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and the DPRK, will forever remain in our hearts. We express our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased," the ministry added.
A. Matsegora has been Russia's ambassador to North Korea since 2014. –0–
