CHENGDU, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) — China on Tuesday launched a new satellite into space to test communications technology from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwest China's Sichuan Province.
The Shiyan-22 spacecraft, launched at 11:08 PM Beijing Time by the Long March-3B launch vehicle, successfully entered its designated orbit.
The new satellite will be used primarily to provide satellite communications, radio and television broadcasting, and data transmission services. It will also be used for testing and validation of related technologies.
The current launch was the 615th flight mission for the Long March series launch vehicles. –0–
