BEIJING, December 9 (Xinhua) — An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.7 struck the South Sandwich Islands at 18:41 GMT on Monday, the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ) reported.
According to preliminary data, the epicenter of the tremors was located at 58.65 degrees south latitude and 24.80 degrees west longitude. The hypocenter was located at a depth of 10 km.
