Beijing, December 7 (Xinhua) — China demands that Japan immediately cease slanderous remarks and discreditable actions and strictly enforce discipline during frontline operations. This was stated on Sunday by People's Liberation Army Navy (PLA) spokesman Wang Xuemeng, commenting on the recent approaches of Japan Air Self-Defense Force aircraft to the waters and airspace east of the Miyako Strait, where carrier-based fighters from the Chinese carrier battle group led by the aircraft carrier Liaoning were conducting routine training flights.
Wang Xuemeng emphasized that the hype raised by the Japanese side is completely at odds with the facts, since the sea area and airspace for conducting training flights were announced by China in advance.
Japan Air Self-Defense Force aircraft have repeatedly approached Chinese naval training areas in an attempt to interfere, which has had a significant negative impact on China's normal training activities and created a serious threat to flight safety, Wang Xuemeng said.
