Kuwait, December 7 (Xinhua) — The Kuwait Space Rocket team reported that the small rocket it attempted to launch on Saturday morning exploded shortly after launch in Jahra province. There were no injuries.
The Tamouh-3 rocket, approximately 3.2 meters long and with a maximum thrust of approximately 12,000 newtons, was equipped with GPS devices designed to record coordinates, speed, altitude, acceleration and other flight data.
This was reportedly the fourth launch attempt. An investigation into the cause of the explosion is underway.
Since 2018, the Kuwait Space Rocket team has been working to advance Kuwait's space exploration and scientific research initiatives by bringing together engineers and specialists in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
