Kigali, December 7 (Xinhua) — More than 800 citizens of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have fled violence in eastern Rwanda to Rwanda since Wednesday, Fanuel Sindayiheba, head of Rusizi District in Rwanda's West Province, told Xinhua by telephone on Saturday.
According to him, the refugees said they crossed the border due to the escalation of fighting between the rebel Movement of March 23 (M23) and the Congolese army in eastern DRC.
On Saturday, Rusizi district received 117 refugees who arrived in Rwanda through the Bugarama-Kamanyola crossing point, said F. Sindayiheba, adding that the majority of this group, like the previous ones, were women and children. –0–
