HARBIN, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) — A seminar for journalists from Northeast Asian countries was held in Heihe, Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, on Thursday. Participants discussed strengthening cooperation in promoting winter tourism in Heilongjiang Province and unlocking the potential of its "ice and snow" economy.
The event, titled "Heilongjiang's Ice and Snow Resources: A Priceless Treasure," created a platform for exchanges among journalists from Northeast Asian countries and promoted the construction of a world-class winter resort and the development of the winter economy in Heilongjiang Province.
Konstantin Bakhirev, head of the Far Eastern branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Editorial Office of Rossiyskaya Gazeta" in Vladivostok, noted that Heilongjiang Province is developing dynamically and is a gateway for business between Russia and China. This is evident in border cities such as Suifenhe and Heihe, where new border crossings, high-speed train stations, and new buildings have been built.
Heilongjiang Broadcasting Editor Ma Yue noted that Heilongjiang Province's ice and snow resources have long been more than just a primitive natural landscape, but also high-tech integrated products and benchmarks for high-end manufacturing. Media representatives should leverage their channels and influence, combining the province's winter resources with Russia's exotic customs to stimulate the mutually beneficial development of relevant industries through communications collaboration.
According to Bi Dan, a representative of Partners magazine, the ice and snow economy is becoming a new driver of high-quality development and a new link in opening up to the outside world. The media are not only witnesses to the development of the ice and snow economy but also participants in regional cooperation. They must continue to adequately report on Heilongjiang Province's winter resources so that international audiences can better understand the connotations of this province's economic development.
The seminar also featured speeches from local media representatives and representatives from other provinces of China, as well as from the Republic of Korea, Mongolia and Cambodia.
The event was organized by the Information Office of the Heilongjiang Provincial People's Government jointly with the Heilongjiang Daily and the Publicity Department of the CPC Heihe Municipal Committee. -0-
