Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova presented awards to the winners of the 3rd Eduard Asadov All-Russian Literary Competition for Visually Impaired People, dedicated to the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The awards ceremony took place at the Government House.
In 2025, the competition was held in seven categories, the most popular of which were "About the Motherland," "A Man's Fate," and "About Love." The competition received 91 submissions from 65 Russian cities. The literary works featured a diverse range of genres. Participants submitted short stories, novellas, novels, essays, plays, and poems. Twenty finalists made the shortlist, from which the jury selected eight winners.
"Our event is timed to coincide with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which reminds us of the importance of equal opportunities, the value of every person, regardless of their disability, and the need to build a truly inclusive society. Creativity has the power to overcome any barrier. The Eduard Asadov All-Russian Literary Competition for People with Visual Impairments is a clear example of this. It not only identifies talent but also fosters a culture of respect, understanding, and support for people with disabilities," said Tatyana Golikova.
The winners of the III All-Russian Competition of Literary Works for People with Visual Impairments named after Eduard Asadov were:
Pyotr Antonov (Nizhnevartovsk, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Yugra),
Vyacheslav Vasiliev (Akhtyrsky village, Krasnodar region),
Maria Gavrilina (Nizhny Novgorod, Nizhny Novgorod region),
Timur Kolesnikov (Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan),
Oksana Medvedeva (Yeisk, Krasnodar Krai),
Elena Roshchina (Korablino, Ryazan region),
Mikhail Smirnov (Salavat, Republic of Bashkortostan),
Vyacheslav Chaban (Goryachiy Klyuch, Krasnodar Region).
Seven winners received Braille displays provided by the Art, Science, and Sport charity foundation as part of its "Un Certain Regard" program. This unique device will enable visually impaired writers to further develop their talents.
Elena Roshchina's children's series "Favorite Bedtime Stories" was awarded a special jury prize—a certificate for the creation of an animated film—from the animation studio of the Diana Gurtskaya Center for Social Integration.
Students from the Russian State Specialized Academy of Arts took part in the awards ceremony, performing several musical pieces.
The competition jury is chaired by People's Artist of Russia Sergei Bezrukov. It was on his initiative that the event was named after Soviet poet and novelist Eduard Asadov in 2023. The jury also includes People's Artist of Russia Diana Gurtskaya, Rector of GITIS Grigory Zaslavsky, General Director of the Russian State Library Vadim Duda, editor of the "Our Life" magazine of the All-Russian Society of the Blind Vladimir Bukhtiyarov, writer Irina Povolotskaya, and others.
The All-Russian Literary Competition for People with Visual Impairments has been held since 2022. Since then, the competition has received 422 applications from participants aged 18–96, with 25 winners. The competition has reached over 250 cities across the country.
The competition was organized by the Government Council for Guardianship in the Social Sphere, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, the Ministry of Culture, and the Art, Science, and Sports Charitable Foundation as part of the Special View program to support people with visual impairments.
The Government Council on Social Welfare was established in 2012. The Council is an advisory body formed to address the most pressing issues in the area of social protection for citizens in difficult life situations, including children without parental care, the disabled, and other groups of citizens, as well as public health protection and the development of proposals for improving state policy in this area.
The Art, Science, and Sport Charitable Foundation was founded in 2006 to support socially significant initiatives in culture, education, and sports. The Foundation actively contributes to the development of inclusion and accessible environments in the country, including through its "Special View" program to support people with visual impairments, which offers relevant service solutions for people with visual disabilities to promote self-fulfillment, development, and integration into society.
