Today, millions of citizens of our country are actively involved in the volunteer movement.

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko congratulated Russians on Volunteer Day, celebrated annually on December 5.

"Today, millions of our country's citizens are actively involved in the volunteer movement. Over the past five years, the number of Russians volunteering has more than tripled—from 10% to 32%. Over 9 million people have joined the Dobro.RF platform. As President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin says, the desire to help those in need has been present throughout our country's history, passed down from generation to generation. Every day, our volunteers prove this to be true. They are caring, responsible, and kind people who have chosen service as their life's work," the Deputy Prime Minister said.

He recalled that the volunteer movement in Russia emerged during preparations for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Twenty-six flagship universities across the country were selected through a competition to host the first volunteer centers. The winning universities were awarded diplomas, which were presented by the President of Russia.

"All those wishing to become volunteers went through a complex selection process, and at the Games, our assistants—a team of 25,000 people—worked in 17 different areas, from meeting delegations at the airport to assisting with the organization of ceremonies," said Dmitry Chernyshenko.

He emphasized that volunteers are always among the first to respond to the challenges of the times. "This was the case during the coronavirus pandemic and after the start of the special military operation, when they demonstrated true patriotism and civic commitment, supporting our heroes on the front lines, their families, and the residents of Donbas, Novorossiya, and border regions," added Dmitry Chernyshenko.

The President has repeatedly emphasized that the volunteer movement will continue to develop in Russia, the Deputy Prime Minister noted.

“New volunteer centers and headquarters are regularly opening throughout Russia

Dmitry Chernyshenko wished the volunteers good health, boundless energy, success in their noble cause, and as many like-minded people as possible.
