HONG KONG, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) — The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government strongly condemned some politicians in the U.S. House of Representatives for attempting to use the so-called "resolution" to make absurd and factually distorted comments on Lee Zhiying's national security case and his detention conditions.
As a SAR government spokesperson noted, the Hong Kong authorities reiterate that since the trial of Lee Zhiying is still ongoing, it is inappropriate for anyone to comment on this case in an attempt to obstruct the judiciary from performing its functions independently, as doing so may constitute obstruction of justice.
The official representative recalled that the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region is an inalienable part of the People's Republic of China – a local administrative region that enjoys a high degree of autonomy in accordance with the implementation of the "one country, two systems" policy and is directly subordinate to the Central People's Government.
