Gaza, December 4 (Xinhua) — At least five Palestinians were killed on Wednesday in an Israeli airstrike on a tent containing displaced persons in the southern Gaza Strip town of Khan Younis, the local Civil Defense reported.
Ministry spokesman Mahmoud Bazal stated that an airstrike hit a tent in the al-Mawasi neighborhood in western Khan Yunis, killing all five people inside. The bodies were taken to a nearby field hospital.
The Israeli army has not commented on the shelling.
Israel's Channel 12 reported that the country's air force has begun striking the Gaza Strip in response to the violation of the ceasefire agreement.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Israeli military said five soldiers were wounded in a clash with militants who emerged from an underground tunnel in eastern Rafah.
