Moscow, December 4 /Xinhua/ — The introduction of a visa-free regime will significantly boost trade and tourism between China and Russia. Chinese and Russian entrepreneurs stated this in interviews with Xinhua at the "Russia Calling!" investment forum, which concluded on Wednesday.
"Trade turnover between China and Russia is growing steadily, and the potential for trade and economic cooperation remains enormous. Following the lifting of visa restrictions, interaction between the business communities of the two countries has significantly intensified," says Zhou Liqun, Chairman of the Union of Chinese Entrepreneurs in Russia.
He predicts that bilateral tourism flow between China and Russia will soon recover to pre-pandemic levels and could reach 5-6 million tourists per year in both directions in the near future.
According to Vyacheslav Komlev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Red Soft, a software developer, the visa-free regime enables rapid and unhindered travel without additional formalities, facilitating technological exchanges between the two countries. Areas in which China has advanced further may see increased demand in Russia. At the same time, Russian IT expertise and sectors, traditionally developing more dynamically, will be able to quickly adapt and establish themselves in the Chinese market.
V. Komlev is confident that the visa-free regime will actively stimulate tourism growth and open up new opportunities for his company. Together with a Chinese partner, the company has already developed a multi-platform solution, "Molniya," which integrates payment systems, a marketplace, and social features, targeting the growing Chinese-Russian tourism flow, entrepreneurs, and content creators.
Maria Egorova, a board member of the Melkom Group of Companies, believes that a visa-free regime will facilitate communication between the countries and that joint business will develop increasingly rapidly. "We currently supply a lot of goods to China and purchase a lot of goods from China. Therefore, it will be much easier for our company to negotiate and conduct business," she emphasized.
"The visa-free regime is a very good initiative; it's a great boost for tourism exchange between countries. I think Russia's main historical centers will be very happy to welcome Chinese tourists," added M. Egorova.
On December 1, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree allowing Chinese citizens to enter Russia visa-free for tourism and business trips of up to 30 days until September 14, 2026, based on the principle of reciprocity. China had previously introduced a trial visa-free regime with a maximum stay of 30 days for Russian citizens holding regular passports from September 15, 2025, to September 14, 2026. –0–
