SHANGHAI, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) — The 3rd Global South Think Tank Dialogue on "Self-Strengthening through Unity: Responsibilities and Actions of the Global South" was held in Shanghai, east China, on Thursday.

The event was attended by about 350 Chinese and foreign participants, including political party leaders and think tank experts from more than 120 countries.

In his speech, Chen Jining, a member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, stated that Shanghai is ready to more effectively utilize its regional significance to provide comprehensive support for economic cooperation with countries in the Global South, deepen mutual understanding and a sense of closeness through people-to-people exchanges, and jointly advance modernization through mutual achievements.

As Liu Haixing, Director of the International Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee, noted, China remains a country that firmly upholds, supports, and promotes the concept of strengthening the Global South through unity. He stated that China is ready to work hand in hand with countries of the Global South to implement the four global initiatives and achieve shared prosperity.

Zambian Vice President Mutale Nalumango, along with other overseas participants, stated that China's development plan outlined at the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee provides valuable ideas and opportunities for cooperation to countries in the Global South, which are willing to join hands with China in jointly building a peaceful, secure, prosperous and sustainable future.

The event was jointly organized by the International Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the CPC, and the Global South Think Tank Cooperation Alliance. –0–
