BEIJING, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) — At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in Beijing on Wednesday, beginning his three-day state visit to China.
This is Macron's fourth state visit to China, and a return visit following Xi Jinping's historic state visit to France last year to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France.
During his visit, Xi Jinping will hold talks with Emmanuel Macron to jointly guide the development of Sino-French relations in this new environment. The two leaders will also hold an in-depth exchange of views on pressing international and regional issues.
China is ready to join France in seizing this visit as an opportunity to advance the spirit that underpinned the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France, strengthen strategic communication, deepen pragmatic cooperation, and enhance coordination in multilateral formats, the Chinese Foreign Ministry official said.
In this way, both sides plan to achieve new progress in the China-France comprehensive strategic partnership and make greater contributions to promoting the healthy and stable development of China-EU relations, upholding multilateralism, and maintaining world peace, stability, and prosperity, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman concluded. -0-
