BEIJING, December 3 (Xinhua) — China's services trade volume maintained steady growth in the first 10 months of this year. Total imports and exports reached nearly 6.58 trillion yuan (approximately $930.5 billion), up 7.5 percent year-on-year, the Ministry of Commerce reported Wednesday.
Specifically, service exports increased by 14.3 percent year-on-year to 2.9 trillion yuan, while imports grew by 2.6 percent, exceeding 3.67 trillion yuan. Compared to the same period last year, the services trade deficit narrowed by 269.39 billion yuan, according to the agency's data.
During the reporting period, trade in knowledge-intensive services continued to grow: the total volume of their imports and exports amounted to approximately 2.51 trillion yuan, an increase of 6.4 percent year-on-year.
Tourism trade volume in January-October reached approximately 1.81 trillion yuan, up 8.5 percent year-on-year. Meanwhile, according to statistics, tourism exports grew by 52.5 percent during this period.
