Traffic volumes are increasing due to road infrastructure upgrades in Donbas and Novorossiya. To make travel safer and more comfortable, both road surfaces and artificial structures such as bridges and overpasses are being brought up to standard. Road workers plan to complete work on 11 such projects this year, according to Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.
"Since 2022, approximately 6,700 kilometers of roads and 69 artificial structures have been repaired in the reunited regions. These structures are integral, and often key, elements of the road framework, ensuring uninterrupted transport links. Their construction and reconstruction are among the most technically challenging tasks in road construction. Under this year's program, traffic has been launched on nine artificial structures with a total length of 730 meters, and work is ongoing on two more," said Marat Khusnullin.
The Deputy Prime Minister added that the structures being repaired include a 40-meter bridge across the Gruzskaya River in Makeyevka, DPR, and a 60-meter bridge across the Lugan River in the LPR. The work on these sites is being carried out under the supervision of the state-owned company Avtodor.
"We are restoring artificial structures in historic regions that have been worn down by time and damaged during military operations. In the Kherson region, during major repairs to the Nova Kakhovka-Henichesk highway, we renovated the bridge over the Kakhovka Canal. Thanks to the restoration of bridges, districts in Mariupol have become part of a unified road network, and in Makiivka, we have reduced congestion on the city's main street. We are currently continuing work in Yenakiieve, Donetsk, and Luhansk," noted Vyacheslav Petushenko, Chairman of the Board of the state-owned company Avtodor.
