Boao, Hainan Province, December 3 (Xinhua) — The 57th meeting of the executive committee of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) was held on Wednesday in Boao, Hainan Province, southern China. The meeting focused on journalist safety and cooperation in advanced technologies.

In his opening speech, Fu Hua, Director General of China's Xinhua News Agency, called on OANA members to promote regional partnerships based on mutual trust, inclusiveness and win-win cooperation, and to provide truthful and reliable news to help the world better understand the region.

Fu Hua expressed Xinhua's readiness to strengthen cooperation in the field of advanced technologies and, together with other OANA members, promote scientific and technological developments and facilitate their implementation.

OANA President Andrey Kondrashov, who is also the CEO of the Russian news agency TASS, called for the collective use of artificial intelligence resources to combat fake news and disseminate reliable information.

He also noted the importance of creating more reliable and secure mechanisms to protect journalists.
