Projects to ensure comfortable and safe road traffic continue to be implemented in the capital. Work was carried out in Western And Northwest administrative districts. In the northeast of the city, since the beginning of the year, supervisors of the Traffic Management Center (TsODD) have implemented 50 such projects. These include new pedestrian crossings, additional vehicle lanes, waffle-shaped markings at intersections, and much more. Sergei Sobyanin spoke about this in his blog.
"At the request of residents of the Alekseevsky district, a new pedestrian crossing has been installed on Rizhsky Proyezd near building 5, leading to Sokolniki Park. Another one, in the same area, has been installed on Konstantinova Street near building 11a. This makes access to social facilities, such as School No. 1503, the Triumph Sports Club, the bank, and the Heroes' Memory Square, more convenient and safer," the Moscow Mayor wrote.
Additionally, pedestrian safety islands have been installed at seven locations. One of them is in the Severny District on Akademika Alikhanov Street, next to Building 165D, Block 5 on Dmitrovskoye Shosse. In the same area, another safety island was created on Novodachnaya Street, between Building 15, Block 1 and Building 14, Block 1 on Dolgoprudnaya Alley.
In the Losinoostrovsky District, the maximum speed limit was reduced from 60 to 30 kilometers per hour in two sections. Similar measures were taken on Mezenskaya Street, home to School No. 1955, Polyclinics No. 218 and 11, banks, grocery stores, pharmacies, and public transportation stops. A similar restriction, at the request of residents, was introduced on Taymyrskaya Street, home to the A.K. Yeramishantsev City Clinical Hospital, dental clinics, Tayezhny Square, and School No. 763.
To ease heavy traffic, additional traffic lanes were added at seven locations. One of these was added in the Otradnoye district, on Yurlovsky Proyezd before the intersection with Dezhnev Proyezd and Severny Boulevard. Cars now turn left onto Dezhnev Proyezd in two lanes. As a result, the intersection's capacity has increased by 25 percent.
Waffle-pattern markings were added at three complex intersections—for example, at the intersection of Altufevskoe Highway and Khachaturyan Street in Otradnoye. Thanks to the reduction in congestion, travel has become 15–20 percent faster.
As a result of local projects, new parking spaces have appeared in the district: for example, 115 on Belozerskaya Street in the Bibirevo district. And in the Babushkinsky district, 55 parking spaces were created on Starovatutinsky Drive.
Around 35 road projects will be implemented in northeast Moscow by 2025.Waffle-pattern road markings were applied at 44 intersections in the capital this year. From new crossings to special markings: how the TsODD projects make city traffic safer
"Every completed project helps improve traffic. The primary focus is on the convenience and safety of pedestrians and drivers, especially near social facilities and other public transportation areas," Sergei Sobyanin emphasized.
