GUANGZHOU, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) — China Southern Airlines launched a direct flight route between Guangzhou, capital of southern China's Guangdong Province, and Madrid, Spain, on Tuesday, marking the first direct flight between the Chinese city and the Iberian Peninsula.
Flights on this route will be operated by a Boeing 787 three times a week: on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The flight duration is approximately 13-14 hours.
Meanwhile, China Southern Airlines has launched a three-hour connecting service in Guangzhou for passengers from southern Chinese cities including Kunming, Haikou and Shantou to fly to Madrid, a European hub.
Zeng Yongchao, Deputy General Manager of China Southern Air Holding Company Ltd., noted that the new route will improve the efficiency and convenience of transfer services for passengers from around the world via Guangzhou and supports China's efforts to expand high-level opening-up. -0-
