BEIJING, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) — China's meteorological service on Tuesday extended a blue alert over a cold front and strong winds that hit the country.

"The cold front has already covered all northern regions and continues to move south," said Yang Shunan, chief forecaster at the National Meteorological Center. In the northeastern and northern regions, including Inner Mongolia, temperatures dropped by 6-10 degrees Celsius, with some areas experiencing a drop of 12-14 degrees Celsius.

The cold front is expected to continue moving east and south on Tuesday and Wednesday, bringing strong winds and colder temperatures.

According to forecaster Yang Shunan, the cold weather will ease on Thursday. The forecaster advised residents to dress warmly, refrain from outdoor activities, and stay away from billboards and other temporary structures.

As a reminder, China has a four-tier weather warning system, with red representing the highest level of danger, followed in descending order by orange, yellow, and blue. -0-
