This year, specialists from the city's municipal services department have inspected over 1.6 million gas stoves installed in Moscow residents' apartments. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing, Utilities, and Urban Development. Petr Biryukov.

"Between January and November, we inspected the functionality and safety compliance of over 1.6 million gas stoves, representing approximately 90 percent of the total. If any violations are detected, gas workers eliminate any safety hazards and provide recommendations for future operation and repair," noted Pyotr Biryukov.

Gas safety issues are constantly under special control. Every year, specialists from Mosgaz JSC conduct scheduled maintenance of all gasified residential buildings in the city.

The average lifespan of a gas stove is 10 to 12 years. After this time, gas valves wear out, burner diffusers become deformed, and oven insulation deteriorates. Maintaining the safe operation of such appliances is impossible, so replacement is necessary. A gas stove must be equipped with a gas control system that shuts off the gas supply if the burner flame goes out.

Responsibility for the maintenance and replacement of gas equipment lies with the owner or tenant of the residential premises.

Information about the dates and times of inspections is posted on boards installed in entrances and courtyards.
