TEHRAN, November 30 (Xinhua) — Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei on Sunday criticized US President Donald Trump's statement that Venezuela's airspace should be considered closed.
This step is a flagrant violation of international norms and fundamental norms of international law, including those governing international air transport, E. Bagai said in a statement.
It is part of Washington's ongoing "provocative and illegal actions" against Venezuela's sovereignty and territorial integrity, he said, condemning the move as an "arbitrary act and an unprecedented threat" to international aviation security.
As a reminder, D. Trump stated on Saturday that the airspace over and around Venezuela should be considered “completely” closed.
“To all airlines, pilots, drug dealers, and human traffickers, please consider the AIRSPACE OVER AND AROUND VENEZUELA COMPLETELY CLOSED,” he wrote on Truth Social without further explanation. –0–
