Beijing, November 29 (Xinhua) — A ceremony to establish the Chinese-Russian consortium "Innovative Approaches in Teacher Education" was recently held at Mudanjiang Normal University (MNU), located in Heilongjiang Province (Northeast China). The consortium includes MNU, Ural Federal University (UrFU), and 26 other Chinese universities.

The website of the newspaper Zhongguo Qingnianbao (Chinese Youth) reported that at the ceremony, Liu Zhaoguo, a representative of the Heilongjiang Provincial Education Department, noted that the newly formed consortium has created a platform for international exchanges in Heilongjiang Province to combine the efforts of local teacher training colleges in China and Russia and improve the development of teacher education in both countries.

According to MPU Director Cong Xiquan, in order to achieve "mutual learning, mutual benefit, service to society, and joint development," the consortium will organize university rectors' forums, conduct more frequent visits between faculty and students, student exchanges, and joint training of specialists, as well as share high-quality resources for teacher training and jointly submit applications for participation in research projects.

In the future, the organization will promote in-depth cooperation between its members in the areas of specialist training, scientific research cooperation, international exchanges, etc., thereby contributing to the promotion of exchanges and mutual enrichment between Chinese and Russian civilizations, added Cong Xiquan.

Speaking at the ceremony, UrFU President Viktor Koksharov said that a solid foundation had been laid and close ties for cooperation had been established between MPU and UrFU.
