BEIJING, November 29 (Xinhua) — The number of interregional passenger trips across China increased by 3.6 percent year-on-year to 56.88 billion in the first 10 months of 2025, according to data released by the Ministry of Transport on Friday.
During the reporting period, the total volume of commercial freight transport in the country reached 48.29 billion tons, which is 3.5 percent more than in the same period last year.
In particular, in January-October of this year, the volume of road freight transport in the country amounted to 35.62 billion tons, an increase of 3.6 percent year-on-year, while the volume of water transport amounted to 8.29 billion tons, which is 3.5 percent more than in the same period of the previous year.
Meanwhile, cargo turnover at Chinese ports amounted to 15.13 billion tonnes, an increase of 4.3 percent year-on-year. Of this total, domestic and foreign trade cargo turnover increased by 4.6 percent and 3.7 percent, respectively.
During the period, investment in fixed assets in the country's transport sector amounted to 2.95 trillion yuan (approximately 417 billion US dollars). -0-
