Damascus, November 28 (Xinhua) — At least nine people were killed in an Israeli attack on the Syrian town of Beit Jann, Syrian state television channel Al-Ikhbariya reported on Friday.

According to him, an Israeli military patrol entered Beit Jann, where it was surrounded by residents. A firefight ensued, and the soldiers then retreated. Israel then launched airstrikes against the village.

As of Friday morning, Israeli aircraft had carried out several combat sorties and continued intensive flights over the area.

The TV channel reports that civilians were among the casualties. No official statement on the number of injuries or the full extent of the damage has yet been released.
