Hong Kong, November 28 (Xinhua) — The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) government will hold a series of memorial events to express its deep sorrow for the victims of the fire at the Hongfuyuan residential complex in Dabu County, Taipo, sources in the SAR government said on Friday.

National flags and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region flags will be flown at half-mast on all government buildings and facilities throughout Hong Kong from November 29 to December 1.

During the three-day mourning period, principal officials of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) will cancel all non-essential public events, and all entertainment and celebratory events organized or sponsored by the HKSAR will be either cancelled or postponed, depending on the specific circumstances.

Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Chief Executive Lee Jiachao, along with key officials, non-official members of the Executive Council and civil servants, will observe three minutes of silence at the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Office Building at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday to mourn the victims of the fire.

To enable the public to express their condolences, the Civil Affairs Office of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) will establish condolence counters in all 18 districts of Hong Kong. At these counters, citizens will be able to sign condolence books from November 29 to December 1, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
