This year, more than 150 public and investment projects implemented in the Far East and the Arctic were nominated for the "Star of the Far East" award. Nominees were submitted by the Ministry for the Development of the Far East and Arctic, the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation, Far Eastern regions, and public organizations.

In 2025, the awards ceremony will be held for the eighth time. It was created to showcase the active citizens and companies of the Far East, to promote projects aimed at accelerating the socioeconomic development of the Far Eastern Federal District, restoring the territories of the DPR under the patronage of the Far Eastern regions, strengthening volunteer movements, supporting special military operations, and engaging the business community in the common cause of victory.

The award's goals are to showcase the Far East as a growth area and a national priority for Russia's development throughout the 21st century, to raise awareness among residents of the region's opportunities, to highlight best practices in economics and business, to foster cohesion between the state, society, and business, to strengthen patriotic values, and to attract the attention of a wider audience to ongoing social and business projects. The award's key themes include rewarding companies assisting in the special military operation, including residents of the Patriotic Priority Development Area (PTA), as well as supporting individuals and organizations contributing to the accelerated socioeconomic development of the Far East.

"Our goal is to reward those who contribute to the development of the Russian Far East and the Arctic. Those who make life better for residents of the Far East and the North. These include not only investment projects but also public initiatives. We pay special attention to supporting the special military operation—companies, students, and volunteers who contribute to our common victory," said Yuri Trutnev, Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District and Chairman of the "Star of the Far East" award jury.

Representatives from all Far Eastern and Arctic regions are eligible to participate in the "Star of the Far East" award, including investors, public figures, volunteers, students, journalists, and bloggers. The selection process included ten key categories.

Investment projects will receive awards in the following categories: "For Contribution to the Strategic Development of the Far East and the Arctic," "For Contribution to Regional Development," "Leader in the Creation of Highly Skilled Jobs," "Leader in Creating Comfortable Working Conditions," "Technological Innovations," and "Everything for Victory." Media and blogosphere representatives will be recognized in the "Red Line" category. The award recognizes the best participants in the "Hectar" program for projects supporting special military operations, creating rehabilitation centers and recreation areas for SVO participants, and promoting patriotic education among youth. Considerable attention will be given to supporting universities, volunteer, and public organizations in implementing social initiatives and projects aimed at strengthening patriotic education and facilitating the special military operation. Such projects will participate in the "Volunteering" and "Universities for the SVO" categories.

The projects will be evaluated by the award jury. The jury includes representatives from the Office of the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District, the Ministry for the Development of the Far East and Arctic, the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation, federal ministries, public and business organizations, and parliamentarians.

In 2025, the jury chair will select companies based in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation and residents of this region to be included in the list of those eligible to receive the "Star of the Far East" award.

The partners of the award in 2025 were the Mangazeya Group of Companies and the Udokan Copper Company.

As a reminder, the "Star of the Far East" public and business award has been held since 2017 with the support of the Office of the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District, the Ministry for the Development of the Far East and Arctic, and the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation. More than 130 entrepreneurs, organizations, public figures, and journalists who have made significant contributions to the development of the Far East have been recognized.
