Caracas, November 27 (Xinhua) — US missile strikes on ships in the Caribbean violate international law and human rights, Venezuelan Attorney General Tarek William Saab said on Wednesday.

"They violated international law," the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, and "all human rights treaties," T.W. Saab said of the US attacks in international waters.

"If a vessel does not pose an immediate threat, the use of lethal force constitutes a violation of international humanitarian law," he added.

"Venezuela does not produce cocaine or marijuana," T.W. Saab emphasized, noting that, according to UN data, "less than 5 percent of drugs destined for the United States" pass through Venezuela.

The Prosecutor General reported that over the past eight years, the Prosecutor General's Office has brought 60,820 drug trafficking charges against Venezuelan citizens, with 21,370 convictions and more than 370 tons of drugs seized. –0–
