Hong Kong, November 28 (Xinhua) — The operation to extinguish a major fire that broke out in the Hongfuyuan residential complex in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) on the afternoon of November 26 is almost complete, the HKSAR Fire Department announced at a briefing for reporters early Friday.
Firefighters are continuing to extinguish the fire in four apartments and are spraying water in other residential units to cool the fire and prevent re-ignition. Firefighters plan to enter all apartments in the seven damaged buildings to locate trapped residents. The search is expected to be completed by 9:00 a.m. Friday.
