Hong Kong, November 26 (Xinhua) — Thirteen people were killed in a massive fire that broke out in a residential area in Dabu County, Taipo, in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) on Wednesday afternoon, the HKSAR government said in a press release.
The Hong Kong Fire Department was notified of the incident at around 2:51 p.m. local time.
Due to intense flames, the department raised the fire alarm to Level 5 at 6:22 p.m. local time. Rescue efforts are still ongoing.
