Moscow, November 26 (Xinhua) — Russian representatives met in the UAE with the new US envoy handling Ukrainian affairs, who unexpectedly showed up at a meeting between Russian and Ukrainian intelligence agencies. This was announced on Wednesday by Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov in an interview with VGTRK journalist Pavel Zarubin.
"During the meeting, there was also a 'piano in the bushes' – the new US representative, who is currently working on the Ukrainian dossier. He also showed up and met, as I understand it, with Ukrainian representatives – this was probably arranged in advance. He also met with our representatives completely unexpectedly," said Yuri Ushakov.
The Russian presidential aide explained that representatives of the Russian and Ukrainian intelligence services meet periodically to discuss sensitive practical issues, in particular, prisoner exchanges.
Yury Ushakov emphasized that the plan for a Ukrainian settlement proposed by US President Donald Trump had not been discussed. "The peace plan has not been discussed in detail with anyone yet. We saw it, it was passed on to us, but there were no discussions," the Russian presidential aide noted.
