Since the beginning of the year, specialists from the city's infrastructure department have repaired over 58 kilometers of barriers damaged in road accidents. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing, Utilities, and Public Works. Petr Biryukov.
"Repairing barriers damaged by vehicle collisions is a key focus for road services. This year, over 58 kilometers of such structures have already been restored. Most often, repairs were carried out on sections of ring and outbound highways," noted Pyotr Biryukov.
The time to eliminate one damaged area ranges from one and a half to two hours, depending on its extent and the nature of the damage.
In Moscow, modern barriers are used that can support a vehicle weighing up to nine tons at a speed of 60 kilometers per hour. These structures help reduce the severity of accidents, preventing a car from crossing into oncoming traffic and, consequently, colliding head-on with another vehicle.
During repairs, special pile-driving rigs are used to dismantle damaged elements and then create new structures.
