Over 30,000 Moscow residents have begun resettlement under the renovation program since the beginning of 2025. This was reported by Vladimir Efimov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Development Policy and Construction.
"Since the beginning of the year, approximately 34,000 Muscovites have begun moving into new buildings constructed as part of the renovation program. The apartments in these buildings already have upgraded finishes. Residents in the Eastern Administrative District of Moscow received the largest number of notifications about the start of relocation—around 7,000. Another 5,200 notifications were received by residents in the northwest of the city, 4,300 each in the north and southeast, and another 3,600 each in the Southern and Northeastern Administrative Districts," said Vladimir Efimov.
To ensure a comfortable move under the renovation program, the city provides movers and a vehicle free of charge. Moving Assistance You can apply online at the mos.ru portal or at resettlement information centers.
"Since the beginning of the year, residents of 167 old buildings have begun moving, with the largest number of them in the Eastern Administrative District—37 buildings. In the north and northwest of the capital, 21 buildings are being resettled, while in the northeast and southeast, 19 buildings each. All new buildings have wide corridors and doorways. Entrance halls and elevator lobbies are located on a single level without steps to create a barrier-free environment. The courtyards have been comprehensively landscaped, and areas for active recreation and sports have been equipped. CCTV cameras and outdoor lighting have also been installed in the adjacent areas," explained the Moscow Government Minister and Head of the Department of Urban Development Policy.
The city provides program participants with apartments in the same districts where the buildings being resettled are located. The only exceptions are Zelenograd and the New Moscow, where resettlement is organized within the district's boundaries.
Ekaterina Solovieva, Moscow Government Minister and Head of the City Department of City Property, noted that of all Muscovites who have begun relocating since the beginning of the year, over 26,700 have already chosen housing offered by the city. Some are currently completing the necessary paperwork for their new apartments, and over 17,700 residents have already received their titles. These apartments typically offer generous living space, with spacious kitchens and hallways. Furthermore, the ground floors of modern complexes feature common areas for storing strollers and sports equipment, as well as space for stores, service businesses, and city organizations. Thus, the renovation program not only improves living conditions but also enhances the quality of the urban environment in the capital.
Earlier, Sergei Sobyanin reported that new buildings under the renovation program save up to 40 percent of resources compared to the old five-story buildings.
The renovation program was approved in August 2017. It affects approximately one million Muscovites and provides for the resettlement of 5,176 buildings. Sergei Sobyanin ordered the pace of implementation of the renovation program to be accelerated.twice.
