Tehran, November 25 (Xinhua) — Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Monday vowed to give a "crushing response" to Israel over the killing of senior Hezbollah commander Haitham Ali Tabtabai.
In a statement published on the official news outlet Sepah News, the IRGC condemned Israel's "brutal crime," declaring that H.A. Tabtabaie was targeted in a southern Beirut suburb in a "blatant and terrorist" act. The statement also stated that "the Axis of Resistance and Hezbollah reserve the right to avenge the assassination and that a decisive response will be given at the appropriate time."
An Israeli airstrike on Sunday on a residential apartment in Haret Hreik killed at least five people, including H.A. Tabtabai, and wounded 28 others, according to Lebanon's Health Ministry.
Iran's Foreign Ministry also condemned the airstrike in a statement on Monday, calling it a "brutal aggression" against Lebanon's territorial integrity and national sovereignty.
