BEIJING, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) — A B767 cargo plane of Uzbekistan's Centrum Air recently successfully departed from Wenzhou Longwan International Airport in east China's Zhejiang Province for Tashkent, Uzbekistan, marking the official launch of the first cargo air route from the city to Central Asia.
According to the Zhejiang Daily, the plane carried 50 tons of goods as part of the cross-border e-commerce (CBE) service. Its launch was timed to coincide with the approach of overseas shopping seasons such as Black Friday and Christmas, and is intended to strengthen the transportation and logistics network for CBE companies in the economically developed province of Zhejiang and surrounding regions.
With the launch of the Wenzhou-Tashkent route, Wenzhou Airport now has a total of 11 international cargo air routes, fully covering Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia, and Central Asia. These routes also provide an alternative transit platform for Chinese goods transported under the TEP to the European market, analysts note.
Wenzhou is among the leading cities in China for e-commerce development, boasting the most comprehensive cross-border e-commerce business model in Zhejiang Province. According to the local government's plan, Wenzhou's TEP export volume will double by 2027 compared to 2024, placing it among the top three cities in Zhejiang Province, alongside Yiwu, known as the "world's small commodities capital."
