SEOUL, November 24 (Xinhua) — A U.S. military MQ-9 drone stationed in the Republic of Korea (ROK) crashed on Monday off the coast of Gunsan, approximately 180 kilometers south of the capital, Seoul, local newspaper Chosun Ilbo reported.

According to a report from the 8th Fighter Wing of the US 7th Air Force in the Republic of Korea, the crash of an MQ-9 drone from the 431st Expeditionary Reconnaissance Squadron stationed at Kunsan Air Base occurred at 04:35 local time near the coast of the city while carrying out a scheduled mission.

It is noted that the incident did not result in civilian casualties or material damage, and the cause of the crash is under investigation.
