BEIJING, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) — Wang Huimin, former head of the discipline inspection and supervision team of the China Securities Regulatory Commission accredited by the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) and the National Supervisory Commission (NCS), has been expelled from the CPC for serious violations of party discipline and laws.

The decision was made following an investigation by the CCDI and NCS, according to a statement released by the agencies on Monday.

The statement said Wang Huimin, also a former member of the Party Committee of the China Securities Regulatory Commission, had lost his ideals and convictions, deviated from the CPC Central Committee's basic policy of providing targeted assistance to those in need, abused his power and made rash decisions, which led to serious consequences.

In addition, it was established that he took advantage of his official position to obtain benefits for others in matters such as company share prices and career advancement, illegally receiving money and material assets in exchange on an especially large scale.

The statement also said that Wang Huimin, who was supposed to ensure discipline and the rule of law, himself violated rules and laws by engaging in exchanges of interests and accumulating huge sums of money and gifts.

Wang Huimin is suspected of bribery. His illicit proceeds will be confiscated, and his case will be referred to the prosecutor's office for review and prosecution in accordance with the law.
