BEIJING, November 23 (Xinhua) — Wu Bin, a master of traditional Chinese martial arts (wushu), was awarded the Order of Friendship in Beijing on Saturday.

He was awarded this Russian state award in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin “for his great contribution to Russian-Chinese cooperation in the field of sports.”

The award ceremony took place at the Russian Embassy in China. During the event, Russia's Chargé d'Affaires in China, Sergey Kramintsev, noted that Russia highly values Wu Bin's contribution to strengthening bilateral humanitarian ties. He emphasized that martial arts, as part of China's spiritual culture, have become an important bridge between the Russian and Chinese peoples.

Vologda Oblast Governor Georgy Filimonov presented the order to the laureate. Congratulating the Chinese master, he stated that Wu Bin had made a huge contribution to the development and popularization of this martial art form internationally, and had also played a significant role in the establishment of the Russian national team as one of the world's leading teams.
