Dushanbe, November 22 /Xinhua/ — Tajik President Emomali Rahmon met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, in Dushanbe on Saturday.

E. Rahmon asked Wang Yi to convey his warmest greetings to Chinese President Xi Jinping, noting that China is a friendly neighbor and close partner of Tajikistan, and that the development of relations with China is always considered a priority by the Tajik side.

In recent years, the president continued, the comprehensive strategic cooperation and partnership between Tajikistan and China has been rapidly developing. China has already become Tajikistan's largest trading partner and largest source of investment, and the Tajik side is confident about the prospects for bilateral relations.

Tajikistan firmly adheres to the one-China principle, E. Rahmon assured, adding that China is playing an increasingly important and leading role in international affairs.

According to the President, the Global Governance Initiative, proposed by President Xi Jinping, is of great importance and creates a foundation for optimizing the global political and economic order. Tajikistan actively supports this initiative and is ready to work with China to advance the implementation of four major global initiatives, strengthen coordination and cooperation within the UN, the SCO, and the China-Central Asia cooperation mechanism, and protect the common interests of both sides and international fairness and justice, Rahmon noted.

Wang Yi, for his part, conveyed President Emomali Rahmon's sincere greetings from Chairman Xi Jinping, noting that the two heads of state maintain close and strategic contacts, building strong mutual trust and deep friendship.

The Chinese Foreign Minister noted that the two sides have reached an important consensus on the goal of building a community with a shared future for China and Tajikistan, which sets bilateral relations on a trajectory of accelerated development. He continued that China is Tajikistan's most reliable partner and trusted friend, and stands ready to work with Tajikistan to implement the agreements reached by the two countries' leaders, advancing the deeper and more practical development of their comprehensive strategic cooperation and partnership in the new era.

Wang Yi reported on the results of the 4th Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, emphasizing that China's high-quality development and high-level openness will provide Tajikistan and other countries with new opportunities and broader prospects for cooperation.

Wang Yi stated that China is ready to strengthen coordination and interaction with Tajikistan within the framework of the SCO and the China-Central Asia cooperation mechanism, jointly combat the “three evil forces” (terrorism, extremism, separatism), and strengthen a reliable security system in the interests of the development and prosperity of the two countries.
