SHIJIAZHUANG, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) — Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang stressed consolidating and expanding the momentum of economic improvement to achieve China's annual economic and social development targets, ensuring the smooth completion of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) and laying a solid foundation for the start of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030).
Ding Xuexiang, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, made the statement during an inspection tour of Shandong (East China) and Hebei (North China) provinces from November 20 to 22.
While in Jinan, the capital of Shandong Province, Ding Xuexiang visited several companies to learn about the development of industries such as advanced and intelligent manufacturing, next-generation information technology, biotechnology, and biomanufacturing.
He pointed out that the optimization and modernization of traditional industries, as well as the stimulation and expansion of emerging industries and industries of the future, require deep integration of scientific, technological and industrial innovation.
Ding Xuexiang called on enterprises to take a leading role in strengthening innovative collaboration between manufacturing, academia, and research institutions to promote the application of scientific and technological advances and enhance the resilience of industrial and supply chains. He also emphasized the importance of proactively addressing enterprises' concerns and addressing their challenges.
While inspecting the second phase of the Yaoqiang International Airport expansion project in Jinan, Ding Xuexiang emphasized the need for high-quality, coordinated use of all types of public investment and an increased role in stimulating effective investment.
Upon arriving in Shijiazhuang, the capital of Hebei Province, Ding Xuexiang visited a local thermal and electric power company. He noted the importance of stabilizing energy production and supplies as the heating season begins in northern China, adding that coordinated efforts should be made to ensure the transition to a green economy and energy supply security.
While in Hebei Province, the Chinese vice premier also inspected the progress of ecological restoration of the Hutuohe River. He called on local authorities to consolidate and develop their successful experiences and practices to guide all parties toward joint environmental conservation.
